Our

Chain of
Latin American style restaurants. As usual the only
branches in Wales are in Cardiff. They have a separate
veggie & vegan menu which labels which dishes are vegan
friendly and which can be changed to vegan. This is
available in the restaurants or online. It informs you
to clearly tell your server that you require vegan
options.

Our
Comments:
Kemis state on their website that the menu will suit
vegan palates. The suitable options include freshly made
baguettes with vegan fillings, a wide range of salads,
jacket potatoes and falafel. When our researchers
visited there were also labelled vegan Chocolate &
coconut flapjacks. During the winter they also
serve soups, some of which are vegan.

Our Comments: Typical up market Bay experience. Advise
them you are vegan. They offer tofu and vegetable dishes. The food is fresh and tasty. The portions are
decently sized. Home delivery service available.
Our Comments:
The
pizza bases are vegan, so pizza without cheese is
suitable. Pasta with the Pomodoro & bufala sauce
(without the buffalo mozzarella) is also vegan. The
suitable antipasti are Black & green olives, Goddess
olives, Dough sticks (if brushed with olive oil rather
than the normal dairy stuff), Bruschetta al pomodoro,
Italian bread basket (without dough sticks) and
Vegetarian antipasto Zizzi (without dough sticks). Also
vegan are the sides of Tuscan potatoes, fine green beans
and mixed salad and the strawberry, lemon and blood
orange Sorbetti desserts.
Can make a
vegan pizza, as they have a wide selection of vegetable
toppings available. Also serve hummus and other dips. If you
book a table and let them know you are vegan in advance, they can come up with
something like Oven baked fat chips and Salad plate with
fresh & roasted vegetables.
All pasta (except
tagliatelle) is vegan, as are the pizza bases. Therefore you can choose
the vegan pomodoro sauce and just add vegetables to your pizza or pasta. Always advise them you are vegan on arrival or when ordering.
Vegan dishes are
insalata mista/verde, bruschetta Napoli, pane fresco, pane con aglio,
spaghetti pomodoro and penne arrabbiata (order without Parmesan). The
pizza bases are not suitable. Tell them you are vegan when ordering.
Vegan options are Roast
vegetable fajita (without guacamole & sour cream), Quesadillas (without
cheese and cheese & garlic spread) and Veggie chilli (without cheese &
sour cream). The Veggie chilli burger contains egg and although the
restaurants are not meant to fry the chips in the same fryer as meat and
fish, they cannot guarantee 100% that this is not done.
Vegan food choices are
jacket potatoes or soup. All hot drinks can be made with soya milk but
hot chocolate & chocolate syrup for mochas not suitable. Also have
a range of freshly made vegan smoothies.

Can cater for vegans
without notice as most dishes can be reconfigured pretty easily. If
you get in touch beforehand you can tell them what sort of dish you
would like.

Isn't much suitable on
menu but can accommodate vegans. It is advisable to inform them you
are vegan in advance, and then the chef can come up with a range of
vegan options.

ffresh Bar & Restaurant, Wales Millennium Centre
Avoid. The staff told
some customers the sorbet was egg free. Their son had an egg allergy
and reacted to it. There were no ingredients on the packaging so the
staff had guessed (wrongly).

Garcon, Unit U9,
Mermaid Quay
This French restaurant
will adapt their extremely limited number of vegetarian dishes to
vegan. Sadly it is one of those places that still feel it is
acceptable to serve foie gras. Don't imagine anyone reading this will
want to go there.
