Totally vegan café, run by a
co-operative, which is excellent in every way. The extensive
menu includes soup, salads, sandwiches (hummus, vegan
‘cheese’, vegan cream ‘cheese’, smoked tofu, veggie sausage,
Beany burger, balsamic
fried tofu steak etc.), and toasties including vegan
‘cheese’ & ‘bacon’.
The lunch menu is served 11am-5pm. The specials vary from
day to day and can be Falafel Platter, Sausage Bake, Pasta
dishes, Chilli etc.
Vegan cakes, including gluten free options, are available.
Hungry Planet is also a health food shop and vegan bakery.
Other dietary requirements are catered for. It is also a
very pleasant place to just sit in for a tea or coffee.

Our
Comments:
Not a totally vegetarian restaurant but there is
only one non-vegetarian main option. Most dishes on the
inventive menu are vegan and of excellent quality. It is
very good value for this type of cuisine. You will
definitely need to book. Specify you are vegan on
ordering. The menu changes frequently but at the time of
research the following dishes were vegan, or in one
case, could be adapted to vegan.
Starters: Carrot & black cumin soup, ‘Not-duck’ rolls
with cucumber, spring onions & plum sauce, Beetroot
falafels with smoked chilli & lime dressing.
Mains: Butternut squash, mushroom, sage& lemon thyme
risotto, Haggis with braised red cabbage, neeps &
tatties and red wine & onion gravy, Thali plate.
Desserts: Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream & toffee
sauce, Coconut pannacotta with lime & kiwi salsa.

and to ask a member of staff to help with your choices.

they will cook it on your pizza for you. When our
researchers did this they were also given money off

Comments: Excellent Asian restaurant and takeaway. There is

Tacos, Burritos and Chilli are suitable. The Nachos and
veggie Enchiladas, Chimichangas & Fajita and the
Quesadilla Supreme are also ok if you order them without

of a Cardiff institution. |
