Number of dishes on the
standard menu are suitable for vegans. Where special items are
requested, they will do their best to accommodate such requirements.
Our
Comments: Hotel and Cantonese restaurant. The
chef understands veganism very well and can prepare most of the
restaurant vegetarian options as vegan. The mock 'chicken' and 'pork'
are both homemade, as is the satay sauce which is suitable for vegans.
We think they use vegan oyster sauce but probably best to check.
Separate utensils are used to prepare the vegan food.
On
the takeaway menu the vegetarian dishes are described as suitable for
vegans. Recommended.

Our
Comments: Vegetarian cafe deli. Friendly with a lovely
atmosphere. It has a 'Ye olde sweet shop' style about it
with things in nice jars and lots of stuff to look at.
They offer three vegetarian lunches a day, one or more
will be vegan such as vegan mezze or bean curry. All food
is made on site or supplied locally. Sometimes there is
vegan cake.
They stock soya milk, Lavazza coffee and Fair Trade
produce. There is also a deli counter.
Our
Comments: Café
with nice atmosphere. The following dishes can be served
vegan; Soup, Mezze platter, Falafel (in pitta bread or
in a basket with chips), Veggie breakfast (until
11.30am) and the Veggie breakfast roll. Linda McCartney
sausages
are used in the last two.
Sometimes the homemade veggie burger is vegan but it can
contain butter. Soya milk is stocked. Check the bread is
vegan but it can be replaced with any dish with rice
cakes.

Comments:
The vegan dishes are curried lentils, couscous,
savoury rice, mixed legumes, pasta salads with tomatoes or
vinaigrette, salads, baked potatoes and flapjacks.
Our
Comments: Hotel with restaurant and two bars. They have
vegan options on most menus. They can easily serve other
dishes to order as the majority of food is home made. They
regularly serve menus for a wide range of dietary needs.
Location:
The Hotel is above the gardens overlooking Bangor
Pier.
Our Comments: Japanese and Asian
noodle bar. Inform them you are vegan and they are
willing to sort out suitable dishes with choices of
Ramen and noodle soups, wok fried noodle dishes and
rice dishes, all served with tofu for vegans. They
will adapt side dishes too, such as spicy crispy tofu
and vegetable gyoza.
There
is a 10% discount for takeaway.
Location: High Street is
Bangor's main shopping street.
This café bar said
they could serve two vegan visitors with a suitable dish, a bean and
olive burger. This arrived with a non-vegan side of coleslaw and the
burgers contained pieces of meat. Give this place a very wide berth.

Offer a
suitable soup and risotto, both are marked vegan. Some
veggie specials can also be adapted to vegan. As the
restaurant is quite small, booking is advisable.

Our Comments: Cafe at the bottom
of Mount Snowdon. There are a couple of vegan dishes
on the menu and also what the cafe themselves admit is
'boring stuff' like baked potatoes and baked beans.
They can also adapt one or two dishes.
Breakfast
is served until 11.30am and there is a veggie one with
Linda McCartney sausages which is suitable, without
the egg.
They
have soya milk but no vegan margarine. They try their

by local vegans.

they are happy to provide a full range of food, all of
which is freshly cooked to order. All vegan and vegetarian
food is cooked with separate pans and utensils. Evening
meals are offered by prior arrangement between October and
March, and also to groups throughout the rest of the year.

Our
Comments: Great
B&B. Looks a bit posh as it used to be a chapel and
the owners used to deal in antiques. On their first
attempt at a vegan breakfast our researchers received
Alpro fruit yoghurt, Linda McCartney sausages, Pure
margarine and baked beans, toast etc. One of the cereals
happened to be vegan too. They weren't offered anything
non-vegan. As the owners didn't know about veganism
before, this was quite a feat! Also they were nice and
friendly, which is always a plus. Recommended.
