It caters extremely well for
vegans with 4 labelled dishes: Potato Saag Balti,
Chick Pea Curry, Vegetable Balti and Thai Green Bean
Curry. When our researchers last visited they had just
had a vegan staying so there was also a vegan
Vietnamese Curry and Plum Rice Pudding. So if you give
notice they can do other stuff.
The
chips are cooked separately from meat products in
vegetable oil. Recommended.
Location: The only pub in the village -
opposite the largest church on the Gower Peninsula.
Our Comments:
The vegan options are quinoa burger, nut roast burger, chickpea & lentil
curry (without yogurt), stir fry (with tofu instead of
cheese) and scrambled tofu. There is also a vegan
lemon drizzle cake. Mention you are vegan as some
ingredients are changed but they do understand
veganism.

friendly and accommodating. They also sell soya milk
and some other wholefoods.

Italian style
restaurant. Although they do not actually have a vegan pizza
on the menu, it is possible to create your own from
ingredients they have in the kitchen. The pizza bases and
sauce are vegan and all pizzas are made to
order and can be ordered without cheese. Always explain to
the staff you are vegan. They are also able to tailor other
dishes to be suitable.
The following sides and starters are also vegan: Marinated
Olives, rosemary and sea salt bread (with olive oil or olive

in salt, fat and sugar and provide meals suitable for any
dietary need eg. coeliacs, diabetics, vegetarians and
vegans. All meals are made in the kitchen. Half the menu
is vegetarian and these dishes are available vegan style.

vegetable curry, sweet potato falafel, hummus & chili jam
and vegan lasagne The cakes baked are made with sunflower oil

Our
Comments: Most
dishes marked vegetarian on the menu can be prepared vegan

pastes containing animal products involved in the cooking
process.
They
can use the same vegetable oil for deep frying both meat

the same oil as animal products.

Group of
Bangladeshi/Indian restaurants not interested in catering for vegans.
When visited by our researchers they have not performed well and a
chicken bone was discovered in a 'vegan' meal at the Rhiwbina, Cardiff
branch.
Our Comments: The chef is aware of veganism. They stock vegan Mayola
mayonnaise so salads can be adapted. With advance
notice they could provide something like an aubergine
bake. The pasta and garlic bread are not vegan but the
vegetables in tomato sauce are and can be had with a
jacket potato. The chips are cooked with meaty stuff.
