Cater for vegans,
preferably with prior notice eg baked pepper with pesto and vegetable
tagine. Caution: They advertise shooting breaks and their website
lists two nearby shoots.
Our Comments: They say they cook with vegetable oil
anyway, so butter ghee should not be a problem. If you
explain the vegan thing, they will prepare something
suitable for you.
Location: Near the roundabout
with the large Tesco on it.
Our Comments: They don't coat the tofu with egg. They have
a separate vegetarian menu but it lists oyster sauce
and we don't know if the green and red curries are
vegan. The staff don't have a great understanding of veganism so explain that you don't want fish or oyster
sauce, eggs or dairy products. Three dishes that can
be made vegan are:
Starter
Tao
Hou Tod (deep fried crispy bean curd served with
either plum or sweet chilli sauce)
Mains
Phad
Man Falang Met Mamuang Himmapahn (stir fried tempura
style potatoes, red peppers, onions and cashew nuts)
Phad
Khrapao Tao Hou (deep fried bean curd stir fried with
chilli and fresh holy basil leaves)
Orders
for takeaway meals on Friday and Saturday must be
placed before 8pm.

with the large Tesco on it.

Our Comments: You need to explain the vegan thing and
that you don't eat fish sauces, eggs or dairy
products. They have bean curd and vegetarian duck,
chicken and abalone (although they can run out of
these ingredients). The salt & pepper bean curd
starter can be made vegan. The mains include any of
the vegetarian 'meats' with either green pepper & blackbean sauce or ginger & pineapple sauce. They
can also do fried rice noodles with beansprouts.
Location: From the roundabout
with the large Tesco on it, head down Charles Street
towards the town centre. At the end of Charles Street
it's over the road on the left hand corner of High
Street.
Our
Comments: Explain
you are vegan and don't want your food prepared with
butter ghee. Most of the vegetarian curries, chef's specials and side
dishes, except those containing cream, egg or paneer can
be ordered. They will also provide vegan fried rice.
Chapati is the only vegan bread. Portions are very
generous.
Location:
Church
Street is a small street off Wrexham High Street, leading
to St Giles Church.
Our
Comments: Italian
restaurant, bar and hotel in the centre of Wrexham. Tell
them you are vegan. Some dishes are vegan and others can be
modified. Seem to understand what vegan means.
Location:
On
the corner of Rhosddu road in Wrexham town centre.
Our
Comments: The
sweet and sour bean curd is vegan, as is the aubergine in
hot broad bean sauce. The bean curd is not coated in egg.
Most vegetable dishes can be adapted to vegan if you
explain to them.
Location:
Farndon
Street is off the roundabout in Wrexham with a Tesco.
Our
Comments: Guesthouse
providing breakfast and evening meals that can cater for
vegans. The owners are veggie and appreciate that choice is
preferable.
Location:

Smithfield Road near where the A525 meets the A534.
