Our Comments: Tandoori
restaurant and take-away. As they cook with a mixture of
butter ghee and vegetable oil you need to specify you are
vegan. Vegetable and mushroom main dishes are available. Of
the side dishes the Tarka dhal is made with butter ghee but
they can do a plain dhal. The chapati are suitable.
Location: Close
to the King's Head pub on Salem Street, one of the main
streets in Amlwch.
Our Comments: Bistro. They have no
problem catering for vegans. The vegetable tagine with
lemon & herb couscous on the menu is vegan. They
can also adapt vegetarian options such as putting
together a risotto or pasta dish.
Our Comments: Vegans can discuss their requirements with the staff
when ordering food. They can provide a meal such as
linguine with tomatoes, mushrooms & garlic and
garlic bread made with oil. The chips are cooked in
the same fryer as the fish.
Our Comments: Explain to them you are vegan and don't
eat egg, oyster sauce etc. They will put this
information on the computerised order to the kitchen.
They
don't coat the beancurd in egg and will do a vegetable
fried rice without egg.

There

not. The fried rice is not suitable either.

Our Comments: Tell them you are vegan. They generally cook with
vegetable oil. They will do a Vegetable Jalfrezi even though
it is not on the menu and can do vegan fried rice. The
chappatis are suitable. Portions are generous.
Our Comments: Small family-run
hotel and bar. The veggie burger, spicy veggie burger
and some of the side dishes and salads on the menu are
suitable for vegans.
The
pizza bases are also vegan, so you are fine with a
pizza without cheese. Generally the bread is vegan but
check when you order, because there are occasions when
they have to source it from a different place.
If
you would like something that is not on the menu, if
you give them a bit of notice and an idea of what you
would like they are happy to provide it for you.

Mon-Sat 5pm-11pm, Sun 3pm-11pm
Number of Vegan dishes: About 25
Price:
£2.75-£5.95 per dish
Our Comments: Tandoori restaurant
and takeaway. If you tell them you are vegan and don't
want any of your dishes cooked with butter ghee they
are willing to prepare suitable meals. The vegetable
samosas are vegan and they will do fried rice without
animal products. The chapatis are ok, but normally
cooked with butter ghee, so stress you don't want
this.
Location: On the road to
Pentraeth from Menai Bridge, 300 metres from
Four Crosses roundabout.
Our Comments: They understand veganism. You can pick
your own plate of deli items. The vegan options
include cous cous, roasted vegetables, falafel,
artichokes, olives, roast butternut squash and new
potatoes.
The
soup is sometimes vegan, e.g. roast carrot and cumin.
The bread they serve is suitable. They are willing to
mix and match things from their menus to produce vegan
meals.
Our Comments: The menu changes monthly. At the time our researchers
visited the vegan options were a Pakora starter with chilli
dip and main dishes of Mushroom & asparagus risotto and
Pad Thai. In addition they will adapt dishes.
The
bread they serve contains lard, the soup may be made with
meat stock and their batter may contain egg. They do not
provide any vegan desserts, the sorbet has milk protein as
an ingredient. The lady in charge is extremely knowledgeable and
helpful.
Location: Close
to Menai Bridge High Street and library.
Our
Comments: Can
cater for vegans with prior booking. A local vegan ate
there recently and the chef was very obliging. The
vegetarian option was made vegan and they provided a
suitable fruit based dessert. The food was delicious,
well made and presented.
Location:
Directly at the end of the Ynys Mon side of the Menai
Bridge.

rice. There may be other vegan dishes but the fried
rice and noodles are not suitable.
Our
Comments: Lynwen offers a range of vegan and allergen free cup cake
flavours, catering for any event, occasion or festival.
They are also sold at local markets. Vegan occasion cakes
also available. Lynwen is a vegan herself so you can rest
assured no animal products are handled in the kitchen.

Our Comments: Family run business based on Anglesey
baking unique cakes made to order. They offer vegan
certified cakes and other diet alternatives including
free-from and diabetic recipes.
They
will be attending festivals and markets throughout the
year and will soon be selling in shops and cafes.
They

an individual cake catered to their diet.
We
have sampled the amazing looking cupcakes and they
