Vegan Café 4 the Day @The Morlan Centre, Queen’s Road, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 2HH. Saturday 11th February 2012, 10am-4pm Serving FREE breakfast, dinner, desserts and more for 1 day only. 10am-lunchtime Breakfast Rolls noon-2pm Choice of hot meals noon-4pm Desserts and cakes Plus Cream Teas & Buffet all day We'll also have plenty of literature available along with a diabetic friendly food stall and people on hand all day for information and advice. NoTMAD have an all vegan feast on Wed 15th Feb 6.30 pm at Dr Mz,Friars Park Lane, Carmarthen, SA31 3AN. Last time they had Pizza, Pasties, Burgers, Nut roast, Onion Tartlets, Salads galore and loads of different Cakes. Entry is free (just bring a contribution of vegan food) and there'll be live music too. NoTMAD (No To Meat and Dairy) is a Carmarthenshire vegan/vegetarian group. Its founder, 14 year old Max Freeman, has just turned vegan and wanted to encourage other people to do the same. You can contact Max via “NoTMAD” on Facebook, email or phone 01558 685389.

We have compiled a 24-page booklet Vegan North Wales. It is a guide to eating out and shopping in Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Ynys Mon and is free. If you would like a copy please email us with your name and address.

03/02/12	Thanks to Daniella for our first St Mellons entry in Cardiff. It's the Yakiniki Restaurant that serves Japanese and Korean food and has lots of possible vegan options.
29/01/12	Quite a few new places this week, as our intrepid researchers have been busy. Fruits de la Terre is a recommended vegetarian food stall in Aberystwyth and the highlight among a number of Cardigan entries is the Food for Thought cafe that has a labelled vegan menu.
29/01/12	Lots of updates for Pembrokeshire as well. There are new entries for Haverfordwest Narberth Treffgarne and Newport where the highlight is the Fronlas Cafe
29/01/12	Restaurant 7teen in Carmarthen has vegan options available as does Get Stuffed Pizza with outlets in Narberth and Tenby as well.
22/01/12	Two recommended pubs that do a superfood salad that is labelled vegan are The Penwig in New Quay and The Harbour Inn in Solva.
22/01/12	Montgomery Voice for Animals has been added to our links page. They combine campaigning for the animals with arranging various events to promote the vegan diet. Please have a look at their website for more details.

01/01/12	A couple of amendments to report for recommended entries: Milgi in Roath (Cardiff) now have a labelled vegan breakfast and Bubbling Stove no longer deliver but do vegetarian and vegan catering in Mid Wales.
25/12/11	The Glasshouse Cafe at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran (Pembrokeshire) is recommended, as there should always be something labelled vegan available.
25/12/11	Various Powys updates: We have The Old Black Lion (Pub/Restaurant) and Red Indigo (Indian Restaurant/Takeaway) in Hay-on-Wye. Two cafes make up our first entries for Knighton and Drovers (Thai Restaurant/Takeaway) is a new entry for Llandrindod Wells.

11/12/11	Y Ffarmers in Llanfihangel y Creuddyn (near Aberystwyth) is a pub that can provide an impressive vegan meal on request. There are also vegan options on the set Christmas menu.
11/12/11	The Millstone Inn in Penyffordd (Flintshire) serves 2 suitable pasta dishes.
04/12/11	D'Lish in Swansea is a cafe with a healthy eating ethos and quite a few vegan options, as half the menu is vegetarian.
04/12/11	A few new entries for Powys: There is the The Black Mountain Lodge restaurant in Aberllynfi, Number 18 cafe/restaurant and The Vine Tree Inn in Crickhowell plus The Old Stables Tea Rooms in Hay-on-Wye.

27/11/11	Brookhouse Mill in Denbigh is a restaurant and bar that can cater for vegans. Thanks to Francesca for this new entry.
27/11/11	Thanks to Alys for the vegan options now available in Coffee Barker, which is in central Cardiff.
27/11/11	The Waterguard pub in Cardiff Bay is recommended, as it has a vegetable curry that is labelled vegan. Another recommended place this week for Cardiff is Falafel Wales in Canton, as they have lots of suitable options and are very clued up on veganism.

25/09/11	Gateway of India is an Indian takeaway in Rhiwbina (Cardiff) that Serves chilled food to be re-heated at home.

11/09/11		Llangollen Vegan Cafe 4 the Day Report
	Eat Out Vegan Wales have just hosted another Vegan Cafe 4 the Day, this time in Llangollen. It was very busy from start to finish and everyone involved thought it was a great success with loads of food and literature given away free to the appreciative Llangollen public. We served breakfast rolls containing vegan 'bacon', sausage & mushroom. This was followed by a selection of main meals including a duo of Welsh rarebits, a veganised version of the traditional Welsh dish of 'cig eidion' mewn cwrw ('beef' in beer) and pizza. The Welsh theme continued with bara bryth and Welsh cakes and there were other cakes too. Special thanks to Lynwen of Aderyn Melys the cake makers who arrived with loads of beautiful looking vegan cup cakes. Thanks to our helpers Dean, Heather, James, Jane, Kate, Keith, Kirsch, Leanne and as usual especially to Maisie for her waitressing under very demanding circumstances. Also the gentleman whose name we don't know who helped with the cleaning up. A very nice review of the event has kindly been put on vegsource.com

24/07/11	Our entry for the excellent Alpine Coffee Shop in Betws-y-Coed has been updated with new menu details, which includes homemade vegan ice cream.
17/07/11	A collection of new entries and updates for North Wales this week. The highlight of a few for Mold is the Miners Arms pub.
10/07/11	The Riverside Cafe in Newcastle Emlyn (Carmarthenshire) is a recommended vegetarian cafe. Thanks to Paul for this new entry.
04/07/11	A recommended place for Cardiff is the Mulberry St restaurant in Llandaff.
26/06/11	There is a totally vegan new entry this week that we recommend, Aderyn Melys cakes in Ynys Mon.
05/06/11	Quite a few new entries for Ceredigion this week. The highlight is Penrhiw, which is a fully vegetarian B & B in Llanafan.
15/05/11	A new entry this week is Blue Lotus Cakes who offer a wide range of hand made vegan cakes anywhere in Wales.
08/05/11	In Gwynedd the Beddgelert Bistro entry has been amended, as it has items marked vegan.
01/05/11	Two new updates for Powys this week, as the The Golden Lion Hotel in Llandysilio and Dyfiview B&B in Machynlleth both have labelled vegan options.
24/04/11	Thé Pot cafe entry in Cathays (Cardiff) has been updated, as they now have labelled vegan options.
24/04/11	The Swansea page has now been updated. There are new entries for Blackpill, Mumbles, Parkhill and West Cross but the best one has to be the Monkey cafe in Swansea itself.
17/04/11	Our Rhondda Cynon Taf page has been updated this week. A highlight is the new entry for The Palms Restaurant at the Caerphilly Garden Centre, as they have a great vegan menu.

20/03/11	The Ceridwen Centre in Llandysul (Carmarthenshire) is a vegetarian centre on a 40 acre smallholding and can easily cater for vegans.
13/03/11	For Rhyl in Denbighshire we have the Cook Book Cafe that looks good, as they have a 'Vegan sandwich of the day'. (Thanks to Sam)
13/03/11	For Newtown in Powys an entry highly recommended by local vegans is the Gulshan Bengali Cuisine Restaurant (Thanks to Isla)
06/03/11	Vegan Café 4 The Day Report Last Saturday (February 26) we organised a vegan event in Bangor. It was a great success with an estimated 400 visitors. Cooked vegan breakfasts, lunches, cakes and desserts were served free to a very appreciative crowd. There were a number of owners of local food outlets among the visitors who showed a lot of interest in the vegan food we were serving. One of these was the lady from Teatime Events that is a new guide entry. They are based in Anglesey and produce lovely vegan cupcakes that we highly recommend. Also attending were the owners of The Garden Hotel & Restaurant in Bangor where some of us stayed. We had a great vegan meal before the event in their Cantonese restaurant and their shop supplied the tofu for the scrambled tofu served with our breakfasts. If you are ever near Bangor the restaurant is highly recommended for vegans. Massive Thanks to all our helpers; Ally, Cat, Fran, Heather, Isla (for cakes), Jane, Joe, Kate, Kirsch, Mad and especially to our youngest waitress Maisie. Also even extra thanks to the Manchester contingent for all the lovely cooking they did before the event. It was also very nice to meet face to face our friends from North Wales.
06/03/11	Shakeaway in central Cardiff has lots of milkshakes that are suitable and they're labelled vegan too (Thanks Claire F). We've also updated the comments for Flavour as there may be some cross contamination issues there.

13/02/11	The Chapter Bar and Café entry at the arts centre in Canton (Cardiff) has been updated to list the large number of labelled vegan dishes available.
30/01/11	Ethical Chef is a completely vegetarian stand in Cardiff's Riverside and Roath markets. Lots of the dishes are suitable for vegans.
09/01/11	Cegin Dan-y-Mynydd in Newport (Pembrokeshire) is a vegetarian bed and breakfast that caters for vegans and which also offers homemade vegan meals to take away.
12/12/10	All this week's updates are entries for The Parsnipship, which is a network of cooks selling food direct, mainly at farmers markets. 10/10/10	Primrose Earth Centre is a vegetarian bed and breakfast near Brecon in Powys that can cater for vegans. Vegan evening meals are also available.

06/06/10	Cafe Atma is a new entry for Cathays in Cardiff that we want to thank Dave for letting us know about. It is 100% vegetarian. Suitable dishes are labelled vegan and include cheesecake. Sounds good!
30/05/10	A great new Cardiff entry is Frantastic Crepes which is a vegetarian stall at Riverside Market. Nearly everything is vegan, including four different types of burger. Please support them if you can.
